Everyone should start their Monday with a little Reggae mon 🙂 This week’s artist is a personal favorite of mine primarily because it is one of his songs that became my personal theme song a few years back. I enjoy this genre very much, finding the music uplifting, catchy and very easily stuck in your brain for the rest of the day!
I had a choice of MySpace, Facebook or iTunes for this artist, so I chose the least appalling (for me, lol!)
O-Shen was actually born in the States as Jason Hershey, but was raised in Papua New Guinea, then shipped back stateside for high school, which um, didn’t go so well. He has done time in prison, and while there, honed his future sound. He now lives in Hawaii, and was the first Third World artist to sing rap and reggae in native Pacific Island languages.
My theme song, “I Am Who I Am” – I start many days with this song 🙂
It is usually followed right behind with this one, which always makes me smile and move- “Country Boy” Not only is it a catchy song, but it embodies the lifestyle I wish to return to.
Another philosophical tune here, “Deeper Look”. Easy on the ears, and just makes you feel good.
And I’ll leave you with a song in the Pacific Island vein. This video has the translated lyrics so that you can see the beauty in them. Don’t you want to be on a beach right now, having a Rumrunner with a little colored umbrella and smelling the salt on the wind? (I surely would rather be there instead of heading to work, lol!)
I hope you’ve enjoyed the music today and that you are now humming along in your mind, feeling the warm tropical breeze, moving your hips and smiling on a Monday 🙂 As always, if you like the artist, please support him by purchasing the music.
Ciao!
